Digital: Non-fiction: Memoir
"The Raven, then the Dove" is an auto-theoretical memoir that uses the forgotten raven in the flood narrative to investigate the implications of revision and childbearing in a modern context. The political squabbles of abortion, the ecological catastrophe of climate change, and the personal realization of being childfree, all combine to form the larger philosophical question of why we have children at all. The book uses an idiosyncratic style with form and content similar to authors like David Markson, Maggie Nelson, Louise Glück, and Joan Didion, in order to produce what I hope to be a strong argument for the dangers hidden between revision, and therefore between generations.
