ABOUT THE AUTHOR

This book reflects Gerard Jacobs’ personal involvement in social work within the Christian Church both in sectarian and institutional churches made up of predominantly Singaporean Chinese Christians. Gerard’s involvement covers a span of 28 years of Christian ministry in Singapore before moving to New Zealand. While in New Zealand, the work he did in Singapore developed into a postgraduate research thesis at the Tyndale-Carey Graduate School of Theology (now Laidlaw College) in New Zealand.

Gerard has served as a parish priest in the Anglican Church in New Zealand and was heavily involved in supporting the multi-cultural community during the Christchurch earthquakes of 2010 & 2011 (See: Rubble to Resurrection: Churches respond in the Canterbury Quakes by Melissa Parsons). He now resides in Christchurch with his family.
