Teodoro Flores is a police officer from northern Mexico that is addicted to video games. One day as he arrives to work, always full of eyes and ears from the drug cartel that control the police, the director entrusts him to catch a young man nicknamed El Caramuela, although his crime is unclear.

Teodoro soon understands that he is commissioned directly by the cartel so, in the following days, he dedicates his efforts to investigate other cases: a murky suicide and a possible crime of passion. But the situation gets complicated when the mobster who wants Caramuela imprisoned kidnaps Teodoro's brother-in-law, the message is clear: he needs to stop playing games and he has to catch Caramuela in order to free his brother-in-law. Now it will be Teodoro's business to negotiate with the cartel the exchange of prisoners, but real life is no PlayStation game, does he has the guts to do it?

Habacuc has written the feature film “La Civil” in collaboration with Belgian-Romanian director Teodora Ana Mihai. As it happened with literature, this debut didn't pass unnoticed either, as the film is part of the Official Selection for Competition at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.
