Arkansas History: A Journey Through Times
Jan. 13, 2020
Author:
Arlen Jones
Category:
Non-fiction: General/Other
Description:
Just when the aspiration that Arkansas might take her place as a great American commonwealth first stirred the imagination of the dreamer of dreams can never be known. This much, however, we do know; as early as 1831, the vision of statehood floated like a cloud suffused with the roseate bues of the dawn before the prophetic eyes of (Ben) Desha and (Robert) Crittenden – a vision which neither of them lived to see realized.

Arkansas History: A Journey Through Times is a curated compilation of excerpts from original sources that tell the story of Arkansas from the foundation in 1833 through the confrontation at the Little Rock Central High School in 1957 that brought international attention to the American civil rights movement. History that students need to know.
