An 18-year-old Asian leaves behind his country and his family to journey west in pursuit of education. After surviving war and its aftermath, Mark departs from his family and his girlfriend to travel to Japan. There he meets Mr. T, a successful Japanese businessman from whom Mark finds the inspiration to pursue success in his own life. Mark then moves to the United States for a scholarship at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. It is here, during the Civil Rights movement and the Vietnam War, that Mark’s true journey begins. Mark cultivates many friendships, travels throughout the U.S. and Western Europe, and gains incredible insights to education and life.
