Sitting on Top of the World
Oct. 6, 2017
Charles Davis
Fiction: General/Other
A European road-novel, Sitting on Top of the World, celebrates the marginal and the outlandish, the footloose and the foreign, portraying through picaresque adventures one small corner of a cracked continent, a continent that doesn't quite know where it wants to go, but is obsessed by where it has been, a continent haunted by history, baffled by the future, and clinging to a fantasy of itself for fear of a less fortunate world clamouring at the gates.Told in alternating chapters by the three main characters, the novel is a story of voices, exploring how those not gifted with glib words find a voice and so find themselves.
