SOLILOQUY'S LABYRINTH SERIES is an interwoven story within a story. The primary plot is set in modern day America and is coupled by a crucial subsequent plot, which encapsulates a multitude of confronting psychological undercurrents within a variety of eras; all of which represents the main character’s past reincarnations.
The protagonist Harper Perelle is a behavioral scientist who specializes in cognitive reasoning. Her seemingly innocent encounter with a stranger (Bahrain - who is a self-professed soothsayer), introduces her to the concept that she is one of the seven pairings of soul keys that legend foretold can open the door to the utopian world of Equanon. Gifted with an uncanny sense of reasoning, Harper uses her instincts to guide her through the gauntlet of unsavory circumstances that has her questioning her sanity. When the interconnected layers of her life begin to be revealed as predetermined, Harper is thrust into an awakened reality that forces her to embrace her role as the ‘soul key of wills.’ She is fated to be drawn toward the discovery of a series of journals, each of which (unbeknown to her) indirectly reveals instances of her re-incarnation across multiple life times that only she can read. Unwittingly, with every journal found she is led deeper into the labyrinth of a universal war waged between good and evil. Both sides campaign for Harper’s allegiance, and only she knows why, neither can be afforded the win.
Here is a quick brief of the sub plots in each of the completed books.
Book: 1- ILLUMINARIUM (288 pgs - Self Published 2015)
- sub plot is based around a mental asylum in the 1920’s in the United States. The key sub character called York is placed there when the family is torn apart due to impoverish circumstances. The kindness of a nurse will have his life saved at the cost of her own.
Book: 2 – INSURRECTION (256 pgs - Self Published 2016)
- sub plot is based around a nunnery during medieval times (15th century) in England. The key sub character called Patience is an orphaned child of insurmountable beauty that is raised within the confines of the convent walls, disguised as a boy.
Book: 3 – QUANTUM (82,000 words – Target for Self Published Nov 2017)
- sub plot intentionally misleads the reader to assume the journal is one of the five that Harper Perelle is destined to find. The writing alludes to it being created in the late 1800’s where Libertine is raised within a world of promiscuity that is heavily influenced by her captors who are admirers of Marquis De Sade’s literature. Later in the main plot the twist is revealed that it is present day and that Libertine is genetically related to Harper.
Book: 4 – PERINNIS (Planned to be released April 2018)
Book: 5 – DUALITIES REIGN (Planned to be released Dec 2018)
The series is artfully designed to be fast paced with layers of intrigue that lures the reader into wanting to know what happens next. My literature is intentionally written in a manner that never allows the story to become predictable.
