WHEN WE ROARED
illustration

What would have happened if the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) won in 1979?

Just suppose:

• A team of women, free from the medical community’s sexism, hunkered down and cured AIDS in 1984
• Two women, bypassing the petty infighting of early electronics clubs, started a microcomputing revolution
• A sharp, politically astute gay woman achieved the legalization of same-sex marriage ln 1983

All of these game-changing events happen in my 70,000-word alternative history, When We Roared.

In this egalitarian society of the 1980s, we follow four remarkable women and thrill to their achievements. That is, until a group of thugs wanting to “take back America’s patriarchy as the founding fathers intended” emerges, bent on dismantling women’s rights. When the movement seizes power, the post-ERA world is in peril.

What happens next? I'd love to tell you!
