Lynn F Casella AUTHOR THE DON'S WIFE Current Manuscript

THE DON'S WIFE (MOCK BOOK COVER THUMBNAIL BELOW RT.)

“When the California wine industry clashes with the California Mafia, (and) Sarina is caught between her boss, her husband, and her conscience. When an intriguing Russian wine collector complicates her life, and Sarina is betrayed, she decides to do it her way and take no prisoners, in this sexy, balls-to-the-wall thriller."

"Actually your book is not like The Godfather, which is full of sexist Italian men and is dated. . . .Look for comparisons with books hat have strong female leads who might be bad girls. And Mafia clichés are clichés because that is how the Mafia works. The trick is to cover new ground and you are doing that when she takes over the organization. And changes as it happens. And uses men to her liking which, I think is rather fun. In fact, maybe you should compare yourself to say, Sidney Sheldon or . . .Jackie Collins. I think Jackie Collins would be a good comparison."--Lynn Hightower, author THE PIPER, EVEN IN DARKNESS, and FLASHPOINT.

“When I married my first generation Sicilian American husband, I faced the culture shock of how old world customs and business practices span the oceans and the generations to influence modern American immigrant family life. In this fast paced character driven story, the names have been changed to protect the guilty,” says Lynn Casella, author of THE DON"S WIFE.

"I wrote THE DON'S WIFE when I earned a Certificate in Fiction from the prestigious UCLA Creative Writer’s Program in Fiction in 2011. I also placed third when I submitted an excerpt of this debut thriller in the 2011 Mystery Writer’s of America (MWA) Helen McCloy Scholarship Contest. I’m a UCLA graduate, with a BA in History/English, and a certified secondary educator. I have an MA in Communications from the University of LaVerne.

"Writing and publishing is in my blood. I published my father, Cyrus Peter Francisco’s, The Man and the Mountain: Sydney Laurence’s Mt. McKinley (currently sold on Amazon.com) on borrowed money from my mother Barbara Kent Francisco Lievsay. The hand written manuscript was found by KAKM-TV in Anchorage, Alaska, and I had to identify my father’s script. I sold half the first printing (2200 books) of this biography in one day and paid off my mother. The station prepared a TV documentary on the painter’s life "Laurence of Alaska." Its TV premier kicked off a year-long West Coast tour of more than a hundred of his paintings with a last stop at the Palm Springs Art Museum. My father was Laurence’s only painting apprentice."

LADY DON, a thriller with a strong female protagonist, has a similar readership to Christine Kling and her book SURFACE TENSION and will appeal to readers who love Jackie Collins and her LUCKY book series.
Meet Sarina, a Calabrian-born wife, mother and agricultural university communications specialist. She is the first Lady Don in her family, succeeding her husband, California’s Sicilian American Don Nick Donato.
When her family’s mentor, Calabrian Don Luciano asks to meet her in Roma, Italy, he offers her a business deal she can’t refuse. She can sell his fake Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar, but he wants cash and California pistachios and almonds in exchange. She’s in. She needs the money to save Napa/Sonoma’s dying vineyards. But, after the deal’s made, she still must figure out how to assasinate him for murdering her father. Then, when Don Luciano kidnaps an oil magnate’s son, whom she met through family connections and is attracted to, she draws the line.
Sarina Donato proves with style and a pistol that bribery, cunning, intimidation, violence plus sex work.
