This writer is looking for an agent.
I'm currently seeking an agent for my latest project, THE NEXT READER, about a ghost writer who finds a life-changing letter hidden in an old edition of Tennyson. Here’s a brief description:
Ghost writer Jack Winston’s mother only expects two things from him. He must give her grandchildren and he must write his own book, not everyone else’s. Jack thinks the grandchildren are unlikely to ever be born, but he has all the writing skills he needs. He just lacks a story to tell. Then an idea tumbles into his lap when a letter slips from the yellowed pages of an old poetry book. An elegant letter addressed to The Next Reader, about people, their stories, and their connections through time and space, concluding with simple instructions: copy the letter, sign it, and hide the book where it might be found again someday. Six people before Jack have done just that.
When Jack’s frumpy bookseller friend Lainey Kerr sees the letter, she suggests they search for the previous readers. Spurred on by her idea, they’re swept into the stories and lives of the charming, yet everyday Next Readers: an ex-con, a terminal cancer patient, a soccer mom, and more. The old book is the thread that binds them all together, but it’s a tangled mess to unravel as they search for the elusive Reader Number One. Even Lainey becomes a knot, with her own secret story that both shocks and intrigues Jack. She’s been hiding behind thick glasses and a baggy smock, but when she reveals her true self, Jack begins to think those grandchildren might just have a chance.
I’ve enjoyed prior success in the self-publishing world with my four-novel paranormal adventure series, The Willow Brown Stories. Beginning with AN ORDINARY FAIRY in 2010, the books relate the adventures of a human photographer, Noah Phelps, who discovers a secret culture of fairies hidden among us. He meets and falls in love with Willow Brown, who he says is "the most delightful, mysterious, feisty, irritating, yet lovable woman" he's ever known. Blessed with physical powers beyond human capabilities and a big dose of magic, Willow leads Noah into a chaotic world of secrets, lies, and intrigue. The four books have sold approximately 30,000 copies.
