Sarah graduated from Mount Holyoke College and immediately began working for Tantor Media (now an imprint of Record Books)- a leading audiobook company located in Old Saybrook, Connecticut with production of over a thousand quality audio titles annually.
At Tantor, Sarah worked in the Acquisitions Department as a Senior Acquisitions Editor. Her focus was to seek and acquire audio rights from publishers, literary agents, or self-published authors to be produced into audio. As part of her daily duties, Sarah executed the entire negotiation between the publisher, agent, or author and Tantor. This gave her a vast amount of knowledge about the publishing process, subsidiary rights negotiations, and how to work with professionals within the publishing industry. Throughout her time at Tantor, Sarah selected and acquired rights for hundreds of titles to be produced into audio, some of which became award winning titles.
Sarah found that she enjoyed working closely with authors and helping them successfully exercise their audio rights. In order to be able to work closer with more authors and publishers to maximize the usage of their subsidiary rights, Sarah founded Hershman Rights Management (HRM).
