Raised on a farm in New England, I am a former journalist and educator who has lived and worked around the world for twenty-eight years. Internationally, for over two years, I wrote essays and short stories for the now-defunct Prague Revue, an on-line literary journal. My short fiction was a first-place winner in Paris in the Women’s Institute for Culture and Education (WICE) international short story competition, while nationally, my YA novel, BROTHERS OF THE FIRE STAR, received a Book-of-the-Year Finalist award from ForeWord Reviews and Finalist awards in YA fiction, Historical fiction, and Adventure fiction from the New Mexico-Arizona Book Awards. In 2017 the New Mexico-Arizona Book Awards selected my novel, A DROP OF WIZARD'S BLOOD, as First Place Winner in YA Fantasy. I currently have two book-length manuscripts ready to go, including THE SUGARHOUSE AT PURITAN ROCK (YA) and FIONA, an upmarket family drama. These and two other books in progress will be part of a planned quartet set in rural New England and dealing with the family issues of personal freedom, love, and the devastating effects of war on soldiers and those who love them.
