The Book Industry Study Group (BISG) works on behalf of authors, publishers, wholesalers and distributors, manufacturers, retailers, libraries, and service providers to make the book industry work more efficiently and effectively. We identify and address problems that affect two or more parts of the business, providing information, sharing standards and best practices, conducting and publishing research, and building community that reflects the breadth of the publishing supply chain. Our committee structure is led by and made up of members who create and maintain the BISAC subject codes, study rights and supply chain issues, evaluate opportunities to improve workflows, and promote best practices for developing and sharing metadata.
