Alan Turkus is the Editorial Director of Thomas & Mercer. He began his career in publishing more than 20 years ago as an editor at Random House. At Pantheon Books, and later at Ecco Press, he worked on numerous bestsellers and award- winning books, including works by James Gleick, Terry Tempest Williams, Joseph Mitchell, Louise Glück, Robert Hass, and Joyce Carol Oates. He holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. Since joining Amazon Publishing, Alan has worked closely with Seth Godin to launch The Domino Project and with Nancy Pearl to launch Book Lust Rediscoveries.
Alan loves suspense in all forms and looks for distinctive voices that will make readers lose sleep because they can’t stop reading. Alan is looking to build franchises and focuses on gripping action thrillers with unforgettable characters, and crime writing with a literary bent.
