Murder Out of Sight

Blinded in a hunting accident, Broderick Delaware Dumont, the pampered second son of a deceased Appellate Court Judge in 1906 Philadelphia turns from promising young legal mind to a ne'er-do-well, drunken lay-about. But his strong-willed mother has different ideas.

Acting on a request from her childhood friend to inquire about her daughter's recent suicide, Esther Dumont decides to have her son look into the matter. A reluctant Dumont accedes to his mother's request and is soon embroiled in a lurid murder scandal. To assist him with such menial tasks as seeing, Dumont employs, again at his mother's insistence, Emma Hunter, whose recent employment as a nurse at Holmesburg Prison ended under mysterious circumstances.
