Sunny Sommerset is the Pen Name for Karen Thomas who resides in the South San Francisco Bay Area and is a member of the SCBWI, MWA. She participates in several writing & illustration critique groups.
In 2021, Karen was accepted into the SCBWI Nevada Mentorship program for her Middle Grade Sci-Fi alternative universe, mystery-thriller and was recently accepted into Futurescapes workshop for March 2023.
She is currently enrolled in a mentorship with the Illustration Department while pursuing courses with the Society of Visual Storytellers and the Steven Silver Drawing Academy.
Finalist in the 2022 SCBWI SF South Golden Gate Year People's Choice Portfolio Award.
