About DVA: Liz Darhansoff founded her eponymous agency in 1975 after spells at Atheneum, Random House, and ICM. In 1989, she partnered with Chuck Verrill and together they solidified a reputation for representing bestselling and groundbreaking work by writers such as Charles Baxter, Taylor Branch, Gretel Ehrlich, Amy Hempel, Paulette Jiles, Stanley Kunitz, William Langewiesche, Bethany McLean, Daniel Okrent, Annie Proulx, and Neal Stephenson, amongst others. Chuck was widely known as Stephen King's longtime agent; he died in 2022 and is profoundly missed. The agency is committed to its established ethos: remaining independent and eclectic, taking on writers of quality regardless of genre or trend, and advocating for a publishing landscape that is progressive, innovative, and inclusive.
