Ladderbird Agency

Ladderbird is a boutique literary agency based out of Boston, MA, run by agent Beth Marshea. Beth has a long love of literature, which started as part of a family of bookworms. After obtaining an undergraduate degree in literature, Beth earned a Master's degree in Business Administration. She became determined to find a way to merge her business passion and her love of literature, which she did as an agent.

Ladderbird is interested in new and diverse voices that bring interesting perspective to known or unknown subjects. We would love to find a great new commercial work by a writer from an under-represented group.

In Fiction- we like dark, but the story needs to reach people and enlighten some aspect of humanity. We are especially interested in mysteries written by women with unusual turns and unlikely settings (Contemporary Agatha Christie meets Murakami).

Although we accept submissions for genre works, we will only accept high quality writing that brings something new and reaches a wide audience. Ladderbird does not accept romance or religious.

In Non Fiction- we are looking for interesting takes on current affairs, psychology, business, or self help. Non Fiction should be geared toward a wide audience, easy to read, with a point that is easily understood. The writer should be well credentialed with a solid platform and preferably previously published academic work (although we are NOT looking for academic writing). For questions regarding Non Fiction writing please inquire at info@ladderbird.com with the subject line "Non Fiction Questions".
