Reading is my favorite activity--if only I liked running half as much! I can find something to love in just about every genre, though as an agent I'm drawn especially to beautifully written, authoritative narrative nonfiction grounded in history, science, feminism, current affairs, politics and pop culture. I am also interested in crime fiction and literary thrillers with strong female protagonists, as well as upmarket commercial women's fiction. And the occasional lifestyle book with an eye to design, art, and wellness grounded in science. For fantasy and science fiction, I consider only those submissions that come to me by referral. I read and welcome every submission sent to me, but because of the large number of submissions received I can respond only to those that I have interest in.
Submissions I'm currently interested in seeing, in no particular order: feminist books, anything LGTBQ, a beautiful cookbook about how to make magic-infused candy (I had some once, no idea if it was actually magic but it tasted delicious and was so pretty), women's history including sports history, sweeping narrative history for a general audience, style and design narratives, and big-think books in the areas of medicine, sociology, organizational psychology, education, and memory. I love high-concept memoir as well.
IN THE INTEREST OF SAVING WRITERS TIME: Please do NOT submit the following projects to me. I delete these submissions without reading them: books (fiction or non fiction) about men playing football, basketball, baseball, golf, hockey. I know nothing about that sort of sport and don't care to. Children's illustrated or middle grade (I rep these only by referral or by existing clients), military thrillers, or books with overtly Christian themes.
ABOUT AEVITAS CREATIVE MANAGEMENT: ACM is a full service literary agency and content development firm established with the merger of Kuhn Projects and Zachary Shuster Harmsworth, whose agents represent scores of nationally and internationally known novelists and memoirists, journalists and on-air correspondents, political and business leaders, academics and public intellectuals, sports figures and chefs, actors and artists, iconic brands and literary estates.
In Latin, Aevitas connotes timeliness, immortality, forever. Its definitions include:
—The time through which a person lives or a thing lasts, the time of existence;
—Time unending;
—Of the future.
MISSION
Our mission is to help cultivate and promote stories, expertise, and insights that are timely and timeless; that are innovative and necessary; that spark debate and challenge conventional wisdom; that enlighten and entertain; that inspire meaningful conversation and propose groundbreaking ideas; that test and expand on literary conventions; and that bring people together, influence the culture in positive ways, and enable voices that might otherwise be silenced to be heard.
VALUES
We take pride in the integrity, thoughtfulness, and intellectual daring, and the unique literary, artistic, and other creative talents, of our clients and colleagues. We reject facile arguments or projects that lack compassion and grace. We seek out authors whose work evinces originality, vision, and moral courage.
AEVITAS’s authors include winners of numerous literary and artistic awards, fellowships and prizes including, among many others: three individual winners of the Pulitzer Prize; National Book Award; Guggenheim Fellowship; National Book Critics Circle Award; Financial Times and McKinsey Business Book of the Year Award; John S. Knight Fellowship; PEN/Hemingway Award; Pushcart Prize; Whiting Writer’s Award; Nobel Peace Prize; as well as the Tony, Grammy, Emmy and Academy Awards.

SPECIALIZED TRAINING, WORK EXPERIENCE, HONORS
|
 |
|
I bring to agenting over two decades of experience in the publishing industry, first as an independent bookseller (Odyssey Books in South Hadley, MA), then as a publicist at Little, Brown and Company, and finally, for almost 20 years, as a Director of Publicity and various other roles in PR at Vintage Books and Anchor Books, a division of The Knopf Publishing Group and Penguin Random House. I know what works in the marketplace and how authors can best find the widest possible readership for their books.
