I am a publishing strategist with a strong interest in new publishing processes. Currently I work with serious writers who are interested in using new media tools to self-publish their work.
I believe that writers using these techniques should view themselves much like independent filmmakers: their job is to pull together the professionals they need to produce a work of highest quality, and to act as creative director for their own project. Today's self-published books can be hardcover with dust jacket, softcover, ebook, audiobook, or enhanced ebook with sound and animation.
I help my writers pull together the creative professionals they need (editors, designers, technologists, marketers) to complete their projects, and I guide them through the decision points in the self-publishing process. For some, I also serve as a developmental editor.
I am also a published author, former editor-in-chief of a technology magazine, and a frequent speaker on the future of publishing. I’ve served as a judge for the online division of the National Magazine Awards.
