Helen Dowdell

A longtime member of the International Women's Writing Guild and the National Association of Black Journalists, Helen Dowdell is a former freelance journalist and executive speechwriter for both the New York Urban League and the New York Chapter of the NAACP. Her articles on food, travel, lifestyles, and women's issues have been featured in both Essence and Self Magazines, the Philadelphia Inquirer, the New York Amsterdam News and the City Sun News. Her short fiction has been featured in Sister 2 Sister and Honey Magazines, and can also be found online at various literary ezines.

She's currently at work on a series of novels, hopefully taking readers in directions she's never taken them before. Stay tuned....

Dedicated to the members of the 369th Infantry Regiment of black American soldiers who fought on the frontline battlegrounds of World War I, her short story titled, Earthly Ground is at The Copperfield Review, a journal for readers and writers of historical fiction.
