"Required reading for humanity"
Keith Marmer,
University of Pennsylvania
|
This writer is looking for an agent.
My work in the field of entrepreneurial mindset education, training, and professional development has influenced a broad audience from academic institutions and economic development organizations to government, corporate, and nonprofit clients worldwide, including the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, the Cisco Entrepreneur Institute, the Colombian Ministry of Education, the South African Department of Education, the U.S. State Department, and the European Commission. I, along with Pulitzer nominee Clifton Taulbert, am the co-author of Who Owns the Ice House? Eight Life Lessons from an Unlikely Entrepreneur, an international bestseller described as “required reading for humanity.”
As the Founder and CEO of the Entrepreneurial Learning Initiative (ELI), I led the development of the Ice House Entrepreneurship Programs, which have been recognized by the Kauffman Foundation as “redefining entrepreneurship education in classrooms and communities worldwide.” Since its inception, more than 3,200 academic and organizational leaders have completed the Ice House Entrepreneurial Mindset facilitator training while tens of thousands of students, both traditional and non-traditional, have been enrolled. The Ice House Entrepreneurship Programs have also been recognized by the United Nations General Assembly, the Papal Council for Peace and Justice at the Vatican, as well as the European Commission in Brussels.
I have also presented numerous keynotes, workshops, and training programs throughout the U.S. and abroad including the Global Entrepreneurship Congress in Rio de Janeiro, Moscow, and Riyadh, as well as speaking and training programs in Athens, London, Bogota, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Sofia, Santiago, Aberdeen, Nicosia, Zagreb, Tbilisi, Baku, Cape Town, and Johannesburg. I am also a frequent contributor to Forbes as well as the host of The Entrepreneurial Mindset Project, a newly-released podcast that highlights the stories of everyday entrepreneurs.

When I can't put a book down, that's when I know I love it; the book wins over all else -- the TV, the football game, the Facebook -- everything is put off until the book is read in its entirety. This was one of those books. -Amazon review
The power of this book is the narrative format. It tells a story about a minority child growing up in a poor community in Mississippi and what he learns by working for his Uncle Cleve. Uncle Cleve has become successful as an entrepreneur not because of advanced education or technology or brilliance but because of simple life lessons such as saving for the future, treating people with respect, being persistent, and making the right choices when opportunities arise. The book and its story will be inspirational to those who face challenges, particularly challenges that seem unfair. It also provides some basic guidance to the everyday entrepreneur who is not looking to be the next Apple Computer but rather to pursue a passion and build a reasonable lifestyle. -Amazon review

SPECIALIZED TRAINING, WORK EXPERIENCE, HONORS

The success of Who Owns the Ice House? clearly demonstrates the enduring interest in small business and entrepreneurship. Yet the author’s work has revealed a much broader interest in understanding the entrepreneurial mindset, not only for those who aspire to start new businesses but as a means of personal and professional development.
As the founder and CEO of The Entrepreneurial Learning Initiative (ELI), the author is fully committed to promoting this book. Often described as “life-changing”, his previous book, Who Owns The Ice House: Eight Life Lessons From An Unlikely Entrepreneur (self-published via ELI Press, 2010) has sold more than 65,000 copies worldwide. The Ice House book, combined with the development of the companion Ice House Entrepreneurship Programs helped to establish Schoeniger as an internationally recognized thought leader on the subject of entrepreneurship. At the same time, ELI emerged as the world’s leading provider of entrepreneurial mindset training, education, and professional development programs.
Building on this existing platform, Mindset 2.0 will become the basis for a new business model dedicated to serving corporate, academic, government, and nonprofit organizations worldwide. Like Ice House, Mindset 2.0 will be promoted both through existing and newly established channels through email marketing, social and online media campaigns, speaking engagements, and podcast interviews.
