agent :
Bethany Jett

After starting my writing career in 2012 at a writers conference, followed by an agency contract and traditional book deal three months later, I was smitten with the world of publishing. For the past several years, I’ve had several books traditionally published (including one under a pen name). After graduating with my MFA in Communications, I worked as a consultant with clients on book proposal creation and marketing strategy.

I’ve excited to work with clients and their proposals on this side of the industry so I can champion writers who are career-oriented and who are willing to put the work into their marketing strategy and execute those plans.

You can find more about me on,, and at my website

Nonfiction in these areas:
Narrative,  How-to, Lifestyle, Business, Leadership, Self-help, History, Politics/Current Affairs, Narrative, Christian Living, Inspirational/Gift, Devotionals, Bible studies, Advice, Relationships,  YA & MG

Specifically, nonfiction writers who are living the messages in their books. This is reflected in their platform (which is not solely dependent on social media numbers, although that plays a part). With regards to platform, engagement means more to me than the number of followers.

I'm interested in YA & MG low fantasy and magical realism with extremely deep POV. Extremely deep. For adult fiction, I'm looking exclusively for cozy mysteries.

Picture book projects:
I'm open to fiction PB with strong story arcs and I love nonfiction PBs with STEM back matter. For rhyming PB, I'm looking for true rhyme (not near rhyme) that follows correct meter beats.

Not Looking For:

I’m not interested in memoir, poems, or books filled with vulgarity, erotica, or horror. Manuscripts filled with the f-bomb are not my cup of tea.

Hoping this is Helpful

In an effort to help you see if we'll be a good fit, here are some bonus thoughts. My goal is to help navigate the subjective part by sharing (or over-sharing).

Although these books and authors are amazing, I'm not looking for books where the comps are LOTR, ACOTR, or anything by Rick Riordan. I loved The Cruel Prince series by Holly Black, but it's at the upper echelon of my comfortability level with teen "romance."

Some Fiction Faves
Kiera Cass’s Selection series; Caraval series; Holly Black’s The Cruel Prince series; anything and everything by Victoria Holt #nostalgia; Pride & Prejudice because #classic; V.E. Schwab’s City of Ghosts series; From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E. L. Konigsburg

This book haunts and lingers:
This is Where it Ends by Marieke Nijkamp

Nonfiction Faves
How the World Sees You by Sally Hogshead changed my life, followed by Grit by Angela Duckworth; All of Gary Vaynerchuk’s books; You are a Brand! by Catherine Kaputa; Dancing on the Head a Pen by Robert Benson pulled me out of my one-and-only writer’s block slump.

Current obsessions
• Cookbooks, including one by my favorite grandma influencer “Brunch with Babs.”
• Narrative nonfiction and true crime books (and binge-watching documentaries and mini-series). Some faves: The Witness Wore Red; Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey; Inventing Anna; The Thing About Pam; The Tinder Swindler; The Dropout

Business/investing/finance, History, Religious, Travel, Lifestyle, Cookbooks, Children's books, Sports, African-American, Cozy mysteries, YA magical realism, YA low fantasy, MG magical realism, MG low fantasy, Picture books
