Catapult Book Group (Catapult / Counterpoint Press / Soft Skull Press) is looking for a highly organized individual with the communication and system-building skills to support our publicity initiatives as a Publicist who is interested in furthering a career in book publishing.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2-3 years of publicity experience, preferably with a trade book publisher focusing on high-quality fiction and narrative nonfiction; media contacts and familiarity with both major, niche, and social media outlets; exceptional written and verbal communication skills; a proven ability to juggle projects and duties; demonstrated organizational skills; a passion for books and reading; and knowledge of the contemporary literary world. We are looking for candidates who enjoy networking with the media, representing our company at industry-related events, and sharing their love for the books they are working on and the ones they're reading for fun.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Independently plan and execute targeted media and event campaigns for literary fiction, crime, poetry, and non-fiction titles, including narrative non-fiction, biography, current events, travel, politics, environment, and memoirs (approximately 2 frontlist titles per month)
- Build media lists and maintain publicity databases (knowledge of Cision/Meltwater always a plus; familiarity with Google Drive a must)
- Develop tailored press materials (including galley letters, press releases, author praise sheets, email pitches) while overseeing review copy mailings, maintaining diligent follow-up via email and phone, and tracking all outreach
- Identify new media opportunities to build on existing media contacts and brainstorm creative angles for our campaigns
- Nurture relationships and liaise directly with media and social/cultural influencers
- Manage interview prep and occasional media training for authors
- Maintain regular communication with Director of Publicity, Director of Marketing, Editorial Director, editors, authors, and agents

Proficiencies in any/all of the following are preferred: Teamwork or similar workflow management software, Meltwater and/or Cision, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Mailchimp.
