Podium is looking for a junior distribution associate to join us on our journey of continual growth in the fast-paced world of audiobook publishing. This person will play a key supporting role on our production team, working with producers, managers, and external partners. They will report directly to Podium’s distribution manager but will work collaboratively with the distribution and greater production team.
Responsibilities will include the following:
Digital asset management: Internal database maintenance, metadata organization, and asset tracking and gathering for submission.
QA: Monitoring vendor platforms for audiobook listings and ensuring overall accuracy.
Metadata creation: Managing ISBNs, copy editing, and inputting key data into our digital asset management system.
File distribution: Scheduling delivery and transferring digital assets to vendor partners, including uploading files to secure FTP servers.
Administrative duties: General admin and assistance for the distribution team, including, but not limited to, record keeping, data mining, and industry research.
The ideal candidate for this position is an eager learner who is self-motivated with the ability to problem solve independently, and who has the following:
Enthusiasm for audiobooks, podcasts, and the audio industry overall (familiarity with Audible is a plus).
High attention to detail and organizational skills. You’ll be dealing with key metadata on a daily basis.
Comfortable working with communication and asset management tools such as Slack, Airtable, Google Docs, Box, distribution management system (e.g., Firebrand, Bookwire), FileZilla, etc.
A foundational understanding of digital publishing best practices, including familiarity with ONIX and BISAC codes (considered an advantage, but not mandatory).
Confidence working remotely, both independently and as part of a team, is essential.
This role is Los Angeles-based. Attendance in the El Segundo office on Tuesday through Thursday is mandatory; Mondays and Fridays are remote. Experience in the book publishing industry is strongly preferred.
