Feminist Press is seeking a full-time Sales & Marketing Coordinator to lead all sales and marketing efforts for FP frontlist and backlist titles. The Sales & Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for creating and implementing plans to build sustainable sales growth for the press. They will advise the Executive Director & Publisher and other staff members on all matters related to sales, marketing, distribution, and inventory. The person in this role will also represent Feminist Press externally within the book publishing industry and related fields.

Due to the nature of this role, this employee must have the ability to attend occasional job-related events locally and nationally outside of regular business hours. These include local book launches and literary festivals, and 2-4 US-based conferences or non-local events per year.

This hybrid role requires at least one day per week of in-person work at the Feminist Press office at the CUNY Graduate Center in Manhattan.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Sales
- Oversee all book sales-related activities for around 15 frontlist titles per year and a backlist of ~400 titles, including direct sales and sales through our distributor
- Manage the relationship with Consortium/Ingram, FP's distributor, and act as the main point person for all sales-related inquiries
- Develop new sales channels for FP titles, and maintain relationships with current sales channels
- Oversee Feminist Press inventory and digital assets
- Provide sales reporting and analysis for FP leadership and staff as needed
- Oversee sales for WSQ, Feminist Press's twice-annual academic publication

Marketing
- Increase the visibility and prestige of Feminist Press as an independent nonprofit book publisher with support of Executive Director & Publisher and other FP staff members
- Lead all book trade-related marketing efforts for Feminist Press, including ABA and ALA events and promotions
- Create and implement custom marketing plans for each FP frontlist title and relevant backlist titles in collaboration with FP colleagues
- Create tip sheets and other materials for all FP frontlist titles in collaboration with editorial colleagues
- Design and implement academic marketing campaigns
- Stay current on book marketing trends and best practices, and experiment with new tactics as relevant to Feminist Press's goals

Skills/experience:

Required
- At least 3 years of experience related to selling and marketing books
- Strong network within the bookselling and book publishing field
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
-Ability to attend job-related events locally and nationally outside regular business hours
-Ability to work in the FP New York office as needed, at least 1 day per week

Nice to have
- Familiarity with Consortium Book Sales & Distribution/Ingram
- Experience selling directly to consumers, including tabling at events, selling products online, and more
- Experience with academic book or journal sales and/or marketing
- Experience leading meetings and speaking publicly
- Experience managing or updating a website
- Familiarity with nonprofit organizations
- Familiarity with Slack, Dropbox, and other office and productivity tools
- Ability to lift and move boxes up to 40 lbs

Compensation for this full-time role is $53,000-60,000 depending on experience. Benefits include paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave, Summer Fridays off, an annual stipend for education and professional development, health and dental coverage, and retirement contributions after two years. Applicants must have the ability to work in the United States, and be able to work as needed, at least one day a week, in the Feminist Press office at the CUNY Graduate Center in Manhattan, New York.
