Requirements:
Soulmaker Press is seeking an Senior Managing Editor to join the team who will report to the Publisher and President. You will be a key member of a small, highly collaborative team.
Experience / passion for working with lyrical essay writing style is a major plus.
The position requires extreme attention to detail and great people skills.
Responsibilities:
* Keeps current on all manuscripts in development and works in tandem with Publisher and President to ensure timeliness and quality
* Supports marketing and publishing teams with producing quotes, excerpts, and video related to the manuscripts to be used in audience building and book marketing
* Meets weekly or biweekly with editors, tracking deliverables and liaising with Publishing; Design, Production Editorial, and Production; and Sales Marketing
* Attends regular and ad hoc production meetings
Qualifications
* 10+ years managing editorial experience, preferably in a trade house
* Solid knowledge of the entire trade publishing process for fiction, narrative nonfiction, and various illustrated genres
* Proven communication and interpersonal skills, including an ability to work with contracted copyeditors, proof readers, designers, alongside in-house staff
* Demonstrated team leadership and mentorship skills
* Solid organizational skills, with an aptitude for process development and innovation
* Proficient with Google Docs suite
* Knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style
The salary range for the Senior Managing Editor level is $90,000-$105,000.
The salary range listed takes into account various factors including the specifics of the individual role, and candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.

This job position will be non-traditional in that much work will be needed to gain understanding in the Eros tradition as articulated in the Eros Sutras in order to effectively manage existing projects and support new talent. Training in this philosophy, for purposes of overseeing book editing, will be part of this position.
