Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional in the children’s book publishing industry to oversee school & library marketing efforts. This role will develop strategy and execute targeted school & library marketing campaigns, as well as oversee our conference presence to promote our award-winning and bestselling list of books spanning board books through young adult.

This is an opportunity for an experienced candidate to be a leader; to manage and mentor our Associate School & Library Marketing Manager, while steering outreach and promotion in collaboration with the marketing, publicity, editorial, and sales teams. The ideal candidate has experience planning publisher and/or author presence at key shows and conventions, has developed and maintained strong relationships in the educator/librarian community, possesses exceptional communication and organizational skills that enable the ability to work on numerous projects simultaneously with success, and as a passion for children’s books and literacy.

What you'll do:

- Oversee MCPG booth presence, entertaining and author participation at key school & library conferences
- Manage School & Library Associate Marketing Manager; provide guidance on projects to develop marketing skills and nurture understanding of the role
- Construct effective title-specific marketing campaigns, balancing between proactively planned campaigns and reactive campaigns for titles that receive significant critical acclaim
- Assume leadership role in MCPG School & Library Digital Marketing initiatives (website, social media, and newsletter), develop strategies, review analytics, and guide other team members 
- Foster and build strong connections among educators, librarians, and stakeholders in key organizations
- Communicate detailed campaign updates to editors, publishers, sales teams, agents, and authors; present campaigns formally in key meetings
- Participate in acquisition meetings and author pitch meetings/proposals
- Assist with oversight and management of marketing budget
- Explore opportunities for third-party partnerships with outside organizations in the education space

What you'll bring:

- Experience with conference/trade show planning; ability to travel for conferences and trade shows nationwide
- Passion for children’s books and a strong familiarity with the publishing industry and school & library marketplace
- Natural multi-tasker with excellent time management skills and ability to pivot combined with proven ability to identify priorities and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Exceptional written and oral communications skills, high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and organization
- Superior problem-solving skills and a positive, resilient attitude

Ideal Experience/Education:

- 5-7 years of experience in school & library marketing or relevant field
- Demonstrated experience with event/conference planning and creative campaign execution
- Some management experience preferred (including intern management)

This position has a budgeted salary of $75,000-$80,000 a year
