Quirk Books, Philadelphia-based publishers of "seriously entertaining" books for adults and children, seeks a Senior Finance and Accounting Manager to join our team, and our mission to make a big impact with a small list of unconventional, engaging, and exciting works of fiction and non-fiction.

This role reports directly to the President, and manages and coordinates all financial and accounting activities of Quirk Productions, Inc., as well as co-manages the finance and operations assistant. We seek a growth-minded, detail oriented individual who wants to ultimately grow into the role of Finance Director/CFO.

DUTIES:

Organizes and oversees the creation of the annual budget, mid-year reforecast, and tracking tools for departments/groups
Prepares monthly reporting package, including financials, cash flow forecasts, and title postmortems.
Pays bills semi-monthly and processes semi-monthly payroll.ll .
Oversees and reconciles accounts payable and receivable, as well as bank and credit card statements
Oversees and reconciles the entry of contract, sales, inventory, subrights, and other data into Quickbooks and Biblio
Prepares, reviews, and submits semi-annual and quarterly royalty statements to contributors, agents and licensors and interacts as needed
Produces additional P&Ls and reporting to summarize and forecast company business activity and profitability
Assists in creation and review of title P&Ls
Performs accounting audits and provides tax accountants with reporting and analysis necessary
Secures, negotiates with, and manages relationships with key operational and financial vendors and partners, including outside auditors.
Co-manages the Accounting and Operations Assistant; provides any required training and guidance.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field and 3+ years of finance and accounting experience in the book publishing industry
Proficiency with Quickbooks, Excel, Google Suite
Familiarity with Biblio, Asana is a plus
Ability to set priorities, be flexible and handle multiple detailed tasks efficiently, and to track and follow up on projects.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively explain financial information to people who do not have a finance background.
Demonstrate the ability to build strong business relationships, and be adaptable to various communication styles, situations, and personalities across all levels of the company, including senior management.
Manage confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
