Our General Books Group is seeking a Manager, Production Editorial, to supervise the production editorial process on a wide variety of titles in the William Morrow imprint group.

-Manages and assigns editorial production of original manuscripts in a variety of genres, heavily illustrated four-color books, offsets, and resets.
-Manages 2-3 production editors
-Works with managing editor on schedules
-Shepherds projects through the editorial/production process to bound books, which includes manuscript coding using Word-based proprietary software and text preparation.
-Assists with and troubleshoots issues in our software’s workflow system.
-Copyedits, proofreads, checks and slugs page proofs, and provides backup checks of final PDFs.
-Copyedits and proofreads cover and jacket copy.
-Hires freelance copyeditors, proofreaders, and indexers, and evaluates their work.
-Assists in supervision of the department’s daily workflow.
-Coordinates copyediting and proofs scheduling.
-Collaborates with editorial, design, and production departments on various tasks.
-Assists with miscellaneous production editorial processes as needed.

-Must have the ability to manage numerous projects and prioritize tight book schedules
-Minimum 5 years of related experience, preferably in trade publishing, with at least 1-2 years of management experience
-Solid copyediting and proofreading skills, and in-depth knowledge of CMS
-Ability to work effectively with all levels of management
-College-level understanding of and use of the English language
-Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail
-Ability to set priorities under pressure
-Proficient in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat markup

The salary range for this position is $75,000-$85,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company.
