Job Summary:

The Foreign Rights Assistant supports the Foreign Rights Department. This position will present the opportunity to learn how books are sold all over the world and to see what book publishing is like in other countries.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

- Track contracts through their various stages
- Follow-up on payments for foreign contracts
- Identify and correctly allocate outstanding money wires
- Track and mail submissions and materials
- Track incoming manuscripts, galleys, and finished copies
- Track clients’ performance in foreign markets
- Correspond with foreign coagents and publishers
- Organize trips to Frankfurt and London for the book fairs
- Develop rights guides and publicity sheets for buzzworthy titles in preparation for book fairs
- Maintain the department’s foreign contact lists
- General administrative duties

- Bachelor’s degree
- Some book publishing experience, preferably at a literary agency
- Excellent people and communication skills
- Superior organizational skills and very detail-oriented
- Extremely professional and articulate
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Knowledge of InDesign and BAITS software a PLUS
- Foreign language skills a PLUS
