Chronicle Books is looking for a dynamic, creative, motivated, resourceful, and highly organized person to join our publicity team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, the ability to work collaboratively with a variety of team members, a strong interest in the book industry, and familiarity with a wide variety of media. Chronicle Books offers a hybrid work environment with the ability to work from home up to three days a week. This position will require at least two days per week in our San Francisco office.

This is a great opportunity to learn about creating and executing innovative book publicity campaigns while contributing in a meaningful way to the ongoing success of Chronicle Books.

The Publicity Assistant will:
• Support the five-member publicity department
• Communicate with authors and media
• Handle review copy mailings and create and send out other press materials
• Research media outlets and opportunities and maintain media lists
• Help write press materials
• Manage Chronicle’s holiday gift guide campaigns and catalog mailings
• Help prepare for author events
• Schedule author travel
• Create publicity reports and communicate about publicity activities with other departments at Chronicle Books, including marketers, sales reps, and editors
• Actively participate in publicity and marketing meetings and contribute to the creation of publicity plans
• Handle other day-to-day administrative tasks of the publicity department

The ideal candidate with have one to two years of professional experience and familiarity with Microsoft 365 services (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, etc.). Experience with Muck Rack, Salesforce, Adobe Pro, and Photoshop, is a plus, and previous publishing or media experience is a bonus as well.
