Guilford Press has expressly engaged Jack Farrell & Associates to find the winning candidate for this important hire. Interested candidates should provide a resume and 2-page cover letter (see below for instructions) to Jack Farrell (jack@jackfarrell.com).  Thank you.

Guilford Press is an independent publisher of books and journals in mental health, psychological science, education (including literacy, special education, and school psychology), geography, and research methods. Guilford’s publications make a difference in the lives of clinicians, researchers, students, educators, and mental health clients around the world. The company prides itself on science-based works by respected experts who aim to advance knowledge and support individual and societal well-being. The company - with continuing profitability over its nearly 50-year history - seeks an Editor-in-Chief who will build on Guilford’s extraordinary legacy and bring new ideas and energy to sustain that success going forward.

Guilford Press has an extensive catalog, with ten journals and more than 1,200 titles in print – expanding every year due to a robust front list mix of educational, professional, and general interest books.  The range of Guilford Press customers is impressive. It includes mental health professionals, psychologists and other behavioral science researchers, upper-level undergraduate and graduate students and their instructors, educators in K-12, academic and public libraries, and trade bookstores.

Some of Guilford's signature professional titles include Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Third Edition, by Judith S. Beck; DBT Skills Training Manual, Second Edition, by Marsha M. Linehan; Handbook of Social and Emotional Learning, edited by Joseph A. Durlak, Celene E. Domitrovich, Roger P. Weissberg, and Thomas P. Gullotta; Introduction to Mediation, Moderation, and Conditional Process Analysis, Third Edition, by Andrew F. Hayes; and Bringing Words to Life: Second Edition, by Isabel L. Beck, Margaret G. McKeown, and Linda Kucan. Trade bestsellers include Mind Over Mood, Second Edition, by Dennis Greenberger and Christine A. Padesky, and The Mindful Self-Compassion Workbook, by Kristin Neff and Christopher Germer. Field-leading journals include the Journal of Personality Disorders and the Journal of Social and Clinical Psychology.

This is a remarkable opportunity for a highly motivated and engaged publishing leader. Since its founding in 1973, Guilford Press has been an editorially-driven publisher. The new Editor-in-Chief will carry on that legacy, establishing the editorial vision and future product growth plans for the company, including an expansion of the current book and journal programs as well as an exploitation of new business and product models that allow Guilford’s customers innovative ways to access and use our content. Guilford Press operates in a hybrid work environment. As such, the ideal candidate should have proximity to metro NYC. However, an outstanding remote candidate will be considered.
