ABRAMS is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional in the children’s book publishing industry to oversee school & library marketing efforts. This role will develop strategy and execute targeted school & library marketing campaigns, as well as oversee our conference presence to promote our award-winning and bestselling list of books spanning board books through young adult.

This is a senior level leadership opportunity for a knowledgeable candidate to manage and mentor a School & Library Marketing Associate while steering outreach and promotion in collaboration with the marketing, publicity, editorial, and sales teams. The ideal candidate has developed strong relationships in the educator/librarian community as a trusted and reliable resource, is passionate about placing books in the hands of gatekeepers and the children they work with, and possesses superior communication and organizational skills that enable the ability to work on numerous projects simultaneously with success.

Key Responsibilities:

Create comprehensive, title specific marketing campaigns designed to build awareness and support for books and authors among educators and librarians; integrate school & library opportunities into overall campaign strategy, collaborating with marketing and publicity teammates to create a cohesive vision and maximize promotions across all channels
Oversee ABRAMS’ booth presence, entertaining and author participation at key school & library conferences including TLA, ALA’s LLX and Annual, and NCTE; brainstorm and implement effective advertising and promotions pre/post show and on site
Manage and mentor School & Library Marketing Associate providing guidance and approvals on projects to develop marketing skills and nurture understanding of the marketplace
Plan and execute school & library account specific advertising and coop strategy in partnership with education sales
Construct effective and engaging advertising campaigns, working with vendors to book placement and with design to create assets; evaluate campaign post-mortem analytics and provide recommendations to improve ROI
Foster and build strong connections among educators and librarians
Communicate detailed campaign updates to editors, publishers, sales teams, agents, and authors; present campaigns formally in key meetings
Participate in acquisition meetings and author pitch meetings/proposals
Oversee and manage a marketing budget based on a strong understanding of costs related to campaign and conference planning
Explore opportunities for third-party partnerships with outside organizations in the education space

Qualifications:

7years of experience in school & library marketing including conference planning and campaign execution, including 2+ years management experience
Interest and ability to travel for conferences and trade shows nationwide
Passion for children’s books and a strong familiarity with the publishing industry and school & library marketplace
Natural multi-tasker with excellent time management skills, who is comfortable shifting course as needed; proven ability to identify priorities and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
Exceptional written and oral communications skills, high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and organization
Superior problem-solving skills and a positive, can-do attitude that works well with different types of personalities
Proficiency in Mac OS and MS Office Suite; Knowledge of Basecamp and Canva a plus

This position is based in New York City office, currently with a hybrid schedule (subject to change).
