The Tobias Literary Agency is seeking for a literary agent — official title to be determined based upon experience (Senior, etc.) — to join the adult department of our growing and dynamic team. The ideal candidate has a current list of clients. detail-oriented self-starter with a strong work ethic to join our team. The right person will be able to work with eccentric and sometimes demanding creative types. A love of literature and thick skin is required. Room for growth.

This position comes with the potential to grow contacts in all sub rights areas including the scouting, commercial licensing, and entertainment industry. We often travel to NYC and Los Angeles to develop and maintain these contacts (not mandatory). The agency covers board and most expenses.

RESPONSIBILITIES (non-all-inclusive):

- Develop and maintain a list of clients
- Evaluate client work
- Negotiate the best deals possible on behalf of clients
- Build and main relationships with editors, scouts, producers, licensees, etc.
- Support clients throughout the publishing process


- 3+ years of experience at a literary agency or management firm
- Bachelor's degree, or out-of-the-box, prior work experience
- Can learn quickly and anticipate needs in an ever-changing environment
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Familiarity with market trends and knowledge of the publishing industry
- Proven track record of sales
- Ability to travel upon occasion
- Candidates should be proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to collaborate, problem solve, and multitask
- Have a current client list or relevant editorial experience
