Chronicle Books is hiring an Ecommerce Merchandise Manager to execute online business, merchandise, content, and marketing strategies for all product categories. This position is a key role for optimizing the customer journey, and the person in this role will bring the overall business and product strategy to life online. The Ecommerce Merchandise Manager will identify opportunities and recommend concepts to attract new customers, and they will work collaboratively with our brand, marketing, e-marketing, and sales and marketing enablement teams. Adaptability, problem-solving, and collaboration are a must in this role.

The Ecommerce Merchandise Manager will drive eCommerce revenue, develop category and subcategory site merchandising strategies, review product launches, and establish a plan to merchandise the site in a manner that aligns with marketing objectives. They will ensure directives and communications are accurate, they will collaborate with cross-departmental teams to influence decisions, and they will utilize deep knowledge of trends in the digital marketplace. Finally, they will build and deliver compelling merchandising opportunities, enhance the brand and digital consumer experience, and establish merchandising KPI's for evaluating business performance.

A minimum of five years of Ecommerce site merchandising experience with branded products is required, as is at least two years of experience leading a team. Strong project leadership skills and excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret and translate data into actionable proposals are also needed. Experience multitasking, prioritizing complex demands, and collaborating cross-functionally will be needed along with effective and flexible communication skills for presenting and leading executive conversations.

We expect the Ecommerce Merchandise Manager to commit to the open exchange of ideas and help sustain and champion an atmosphere of collaboration, mutual accountability, and trust at Chronicle Books. While this is currently a remote position, the expectation is that this San Francisco-based role will eventually move back in-house when it is safe to do so.
