Position description
The Senior Marketing Manager leads development of marketing strategies to support business objectives for Mayo Clinic Press and future product lines. Leads teams building strategic marketing, advertising, and media campaigns. Provides significant contributions to business planning efforts as a collaborative partner. Serves as an advisor on marketing strategy and advocates for consumers within the organization. Leads through influence; many times without direct authority. Manages and directs staff and budgets with full decision-making authority. Responsible for market intelligence through identification and analysis of internal and external data relevant to the market as well as a thorough assessment of the "competitive" environment associated with a project, synthesizing findings and developing strategies to appropriately position Mayo Clinic. Leads primary and secondary market research initiatives from concept development through final reporting. Manages vendor or agency relationships and functions as the lead in the vendor selection process. Works closely with patients, physician leadership, governing committees and the general public as required by project to lead it to its completion. Measures and reports outcomes; responsible for assigned marketing budgets. Includes some travel.

Bachelor's degree and 10 years of experience in marketing or a related field. Project management experience is required. At least two years of experience leading and managing high-performing teams. Master's degree preferred.

Additional qualifications
Prefer an MBA, MHA or Master's Degree in Marketing. Demonstrated excellence in the following competencies: marketing strategy development, interpersonal skills and relationship-building, commitment to teamwork, presentation to small and large audiences, data analysis and statistical competencies, market intelligence, written communication, project management, budgetary management. Must possess high personal motivation supporting a strong work ethic, flexibility, and creativity. Must possess solid analytical abilities with both qualitative and quantitative data and a commitment to meeting deadlines with a high-quality product. Must demonstrate proven successes with building and implementing marketing plans, conducting primary and secondary market research, managing external agency/vendor, learning from results and tailoring strategies accordingly. Comfortable with ambiguity and a proven track record of synthesizing multiple, perhaps conflicting inputs and converting them to cohesive action. Proven ability to build successful, collaborative, cross-functional relationships with highest levels of physician and administrative leadership and lead high-performing teams including providing career development for team members.
