SUMMARY:

The flagship Grand Central imprint of Grand Central Publishing is seeking an Associate Marketing Director to join the team. Reporting to the VP, Executive Director of Publicity & Marketing, this individual will be responsible for creating and implementing creative and exciting marketing campaigns for a variety of titles, with a focus on literary and popular fiction and mystery/thrillers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and implement title-specific marketing campaigns each season and ensure that author and publisher objectives are met.
Work with key stakeholders (author, agent, editorial, sales, publicity and marketing) during the planning phase to ensure that there are cohesive and strategic marketing efforts made for each title.
Work closely with the publicity & marketing team and GCP fiction taskforce to develop comprehensive digital strategies and guidance for our books and authors.
Development and growth of imprint-specific digital platforms, including website, newsletters, and social media platforms.
Ensure that marketing efforts directly engage readers and build community retention and loyalty.
Collaborate on social media, including post preparation and scheduling and fan and follower interaction.
Collaborate on GCP marketing initiatives, including influencer open houses, book club outreach and seasonal programs.
Advise authors on their online presence.
Communicate thoughtful marketing updates leading up to, during, and after publication.
Manage year-round marketing campaigns for key backlist fiction titles.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Minimum of 7 years of progressive marketing experience, preferably with experience, or demonstrated passion for, promoting fiction.
Understanding of effective marketing strategies and ability to develop creative approaches to achieving marketing goals.
Experience developing and deploying social media marketing campaigns.
Understanding of the ever-evolving social and digital media landscape.
Results-oriented, motivated, resourceful & able to work independently.
Superb communication skills (verbal and written) with the aptitude to communicate effectively in both individual and group settings regardless of audience.
