ABRAMS is looking for an enthusiastic, creative, detail-oriented, strategic thinker and book lover to join the Children’s Marketing team as an Assistant Marketing Manager, focusing on promoting a rich commercial list of bestselling titles (Board Books, Picture Books, Middle-Grade and Young Adult), including the #1 international bestselling Diary of a Wimpy Kid series and The Questioneers by #1 New York Times bestselling team Andrea Beaty and David Roberts. This is an exciting opportunity to have a hand in shaping the promotional outreach driving some of the biggest and most well-loved children’s books in the world and to craft the strategy that creates new bestsellers!

The Assistant Marketing Manager, Children’s Books will manage overall promotional strategy for assigned titles with a focus on industry and consumer facing campaign development, including advertising, social media, and account specific marketing efforts, and will partner closely with marketing and publicity team members to integrate multi-tiered promotions. The ideal candidate will thrive in a creative, fast-paced environment, be confident working independently, enjoy collaborating as part of a team, and embrace both the innovative and analytic sides of marketing. This position reports to the Senior Marketing Manager, Children’s Books.

Responsibilities
• Collaborate with the Senior Marketing Manager, Children’s Books on large scale campaign efforts for major brands including Diary of a Wimpy Kid; The Questioneers; Avatar, the Last Airbender; Garbage Pail Kids; and Itty-Bitty Kitty-Corn
• Develop and execute innovative, sales-driving marketing campaigns for assigned titles; establish overall brand strategies and goals, identify key audiences, craft campaign messaging, and collaborate with marketing and publicity teammates to integrate multi-tiered promotions
• Brainstorm cutting-edge opportunities for partnerships and out-of-the-box consumer facing marketing
• Manage creation of promotional materials from copywriting through design and production
• Write effective copy for advertising campaigns and present post-mortem campaign analytics; Working closely with the Senior Marketing Manager, Children’s Books, grow existing relationships with ad reps, brainstorm new opportunities and coordinate seasonal bulk buys
• Work closely with the Senior Manager, Digital & Social Media Marketing on title-specific social media projects including both organic and paid efforts; Coordinate paid vs. organic strategy for Jeff Kinney titles with Wimpy Kid, Inc.
• Collaborate with Sales on account specific materials and promotions
• Maintain budget for assigned titles and promotions
• Manage approvals of assets and maintain relationships with licensors including Nickelodeon, Hasbro, Mattel, Netflix, and Disney
• Communicate campaign updates to key in-house departments including Sales and Editorial; Partner with authors, illustrators, and licensors directly on cross-promotions and efforts to further maximize campaign reach
• Manage key departmental tasks, including creating presentations for internal and external meetings; taking notes and managing follow up at select meetings; creating seasonal project calendars

Qualifications
• 3-4 years marketing experience in publishing or brand marketing; Previous experience in and passion for children’s books and a strong familiarity with the publishing industry and current retail landscape preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Natural, nimble multi-tasker who is comfortable shifting course
• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
• Detail-oriented project manager, with superior organizational skills
• Open-minded, innovative, self-starter who can work well independently yet flourishes in a collaborative and “blue sky” creative environment
• Knowledge of Social Media platforms, including associated advertising and corresponding analytic tools (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok); Knowledge of Google Analytics a plus
• Experience working with brand decks and style guides a plus
• Proficiency in Mac OS and MS Office Suite, with strong knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint in particular; Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Canva a plus
• Ability and desire to travel 2-3 times per year once it is safe to do so
