The Executive Assistant works directly with the owner of the agency, and is responsible for a range of administrative and organizational tasks including calendar management, coordinating with financial, legal and other staff within the company, tracking timelines and maintaining tracking systems (delivery dates, publication schedules, etc) and generally facilitating the day-to-day administration of the owner’s office. Being an avid reader who is engaged with what’s happening in the world is enormously helpful.

This is a challenging, highly visible role within the company, so the ideal candidate is a confident self-starter who would describe themselves as more proactive than reactive, as both curious and creative, and as a planner who can take in the big picture but cares about getting the details right. Being able to build relationships within the agency as well as with clients and other stakeholders in order to become an indispensable part of the overall function and communication flow is important. As such, strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to prioritize tasks-- daily, monthly, quarterly-- with grace and good humor.

While remote for the foreseeable future, it will eventually become a hybrid to majority in person position. Our preference is someone who can meet at least monthly in person in Manhattan (or in lower Westchester Co). The agency is highly collaborative, and the position provides access to a broad array of fields and people, and is a proven stepping stone to any number of career directions including growing into becoming an agent, moving into entertainment, or over into editorial, or the tech world.

Candidates ideally have 2-3 years full-time high level assistant experience in publishing, media, or a related field. BA/BS degree preferred, though someone with a strong work history would be considered. Non-traditional or diverse candidates are encouraged to apply.
