ABRAMS is looking for an energetic, creative, detail-oriented, strategic thinker to join the Children’s Marketing team, focusing on promoting our licensed and proprietary brands (board books through Young Adult), including the #1 international bestselling Diary of a Wimpy Kid series and The Questioneers by #1 New York Times bestselling team Andrea Beaty and David Roberts. The Assistant Marketing Manager, Children’s Books will also manage campaigns for and maintain relationships with key licensors including Nickelodeon, Hasbro, the CW, and Disney. This is an exciting opportunity to have a hand in shaping the promotional outreach driving some of the biggest and most well-loved children’s brands in the world!

This role will manage a wide range of tasks related to industry promotions, consumer advertising, social media, and account specific marketing efforts; candidates should thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven environment, enjoy working as part of a collaborative team, and embrace both the creative and analytic sides of marketing. This position reports to the Senior Marketing Manager, Children’s Books.

• Collaborate with the Senior Marketing Manager, Children’s Books on large scale campaign efforts for major brands including Diary of a Wimpy Kid; The Questioneers; Avatar, the Last Airbender; Garbage Pail Kids; and Itty-Bitty Kitty-Corn
• Develop and execute innovative, sales-driving marketing campaigns for assigned licensed and proprietary brand titles; with guidance from the Senior Marketing Manager, Children’s Books, establish overall brand strategies and goals, identify key audiences, craft consistent campaign messaging, and collaborate with marketing and publicity teammates to integrate multi-tiered promotions
• Research and evaluate cutting-edge opportunities for partnerships and out-of-the-box consumer facing marketing to effectively expand brand awareness
• Brainstorm components and write creative on-brand copy for promotional materials that are both kid-friendly and effective tools at retail; Work with outside production vendors to negotiate pricing and produce materials; Manage projects through PO creation, design, approval, printing, and distribution
• Write competitive and effective copy for advertising campaigns; Manage ads through design, approval, release, and post-mortem campaign analytics; Working closely with the Senior Marketing Manager, Children’s Books, grow existing relationships with ad reps, brainstorm new opportunities and venues, maintain department advertising and analytic grid and assist with seasonal bulk buys
• Work closely with the Senior Manager, Digital & Social Media Marketing on assigned social media projects including writing copy for digital promotions, graphics, and ads; Set up and optimize select ad campaigns, including A/B testing and identifying targeting; Spearhead campaign tracking and analytics; Coordinate paid vs. organic strategy for Jeff Kinney titles with Wimpy Kid, Inc.
• Collaborate with Sales on the creation of and approval for account specific materials and promotions
• Maintain budget for assigned titles and promotions including generating seasonal estimate forecast, updating tracking grids, coding invoices/AMEX statements, and reforecasting as needed
• Manage approvals of assets with key licensors and Wimpy Kid, Inc. adhering to style guides and brand decks where appropriate; Work closely with Diary of a Wimpy Kid foreign publishing partner houses on managing requests for assets and invoicing for shared projects
• Collaborate with key in-house departments including Sales and Editorial to communicate campaign updates; Partner with authors, illustrators, and licensors directly on cross-promotions and efforts to further maximize campaign reach
• Represent ABRAMS at in-house and out-of-house meetings and trade/consumer conventions
• Manage key departmental tasks, including creating presentations for internal and external meetings; taking notes and managing follow up at select meetings; creating seasonal project calendars

• 3-4 years marketing experience in publishing or brand marketing; Previous experience in children’s books preferred
• Familiarity with the publishing industry and current retail landscape
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Natural multi-tasker who is comfortable shifting course as needed mid-project; proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
• Detail-oriented project manager, with superior organizational skills, who is able to take direction well from multiple contacts, and receive and incorporate feedback successfully to streamline execution
• Open-minded, innovative, self-starter who can work well independently yet flourishes in a collaborative and creative environment
• Easily builds and maintains relationships with different management levels and personalities
• Knowledge of Social Media platforms, including associated advertising and corresponding analytic tools (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok)
• Experience working with brand decks and style guides; Knowledge of Basecamp and licensor approval portals a plus
• Prior experience working with ad reps and production vendors to produce promotional materials and displays a plus
• Proficiency in Mac OS and MS Office Suite, with strong knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint in particular; Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Canva a plus
• Ability and desire to travel 2-3 times per year once it is safe to do so
