A prestigious New York-based technology Association and scholarly publisher is seeking a full-time Senior Associate Editor to manage part of the Association’s portfolio of scholarly peer reviewed journals.

The Senior Associate Editor will work closely with a highly skilled and experienced team of publishing professionals and dedicated volunteers from the scientific community on approximately 15 of the Association’s journals, as well as on special projects related to the ongoing editorial growth and quality control of the Association’s Journals program.

Duties include:
• Develop strong relationships with theEditors-in-Chief, journal admins, and all related volunteers of the organization, including Publications Board committee members.
• Create and oversee implementation of journal development plans.
• Provide independent systems support and expertise in both Manuscript Central and Editorial Manager.
• Oversee configuration of new journal submission sites.
• Work with editorial and production teams to oversee on-time issue publication.
• Work extensively in the journal website CMS and train information directors on its use.
• Work closely with marketing to create, implement and track journal promotion efforts.
• Assist with implementing peer review process improvements across all journals.
• Submit and track journal applications to indexing entities as requested.

Basic requirements:
• Four-year college degree required
• Minimum 5 years of related experience in an STM publishing environment.
• Extensive knowledge of Manuscript Central
• Advanced Excel skills
• Strong organizational, task management, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritize, work methodically, and see projects through to completion
• Excellent communications skills
• A sense of urgency in achieving objectives
