Requirements:
W. W. Norton & Company is seeking a Senior Production Manager to coordinate 1st-printing complex College titles from manuscript through bound books, as well as digital ancillary materials. The Senior Production Manager will report to the Director of College Production. Please note this is not a film or video position.

Essential Job Responsibilities Include:
• Manage the production of highly complex first-print titles, including both print and digital items, from manuscript through composition to manufacturing of parent titles, as well as managing ancillary digital products for students and instructors
• Collaborate with in-house Editorial, Design, Project Editorial, Photo Editing, Permissions, and Media editorial and project editorial departments to usher books and digital ancillaries through the publishing process
• Work with outside suppliers, including but not limited to, freelancers, compositors, art studios, digital-content producers, and accessibility content providers
• Specify and purchase paper for print-book titles
• Work with a number of book-manufacturing companies and component printers to ensure timely printing and shipping of titles
• Maintain an accurate database of all book projects in process
• Maintain and report budgets and final costs throughout the publishing process

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Employment eligibility to work with W. W. Norton & Company in the US is required
• Must be able to work full business hours from Norton’s New York City Headquarters. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are temporarily providing employees the option to work remotely
• 6-8 years of book-production experience, ideally including digital as well as print, but working with manuscript through composition to paper purchasing and manufacturing experience is a must
• Must be highly organized, disciplined, and self-motivated, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must have good time management skills, be organized, and be capable of multi-tasking across departments, activities, and projects
• Must be detail-oriented, making sure that all aspects of daily activities are handled with accuracy and minimal mistakes
• Must be able to work collaboratively but also be self-directed and able to work independently
● Must have a demonstrated interest in the challenges and opportunities of an ever-changing book-publishing industry

Technical skills:
• Proficiency in the complete Microsoft Office suite a must. Proficiency with Photoshop and page layout software (InDesign) a plus, as well as project and digital management software
