What We’re Looking For in a General Manager:

Our business is poised for great expansion. The market for the author services we offer is getting bigger every year. We are looking for a hands-on Integrator to actively run our business operations, including finances, staff management and services. The ideal candidate has 5+ years’ experience managing a small to midsize company or equivalent, with an emphasis on sales and marketing, and is eager for the opportunity to take ownership in growing a $1.5m business to the mid-seven figures. Online marketing and direct sales experience are big pluses, as is an MBA.

KPIs:
- Financial Health: Profitability of the business at or above 15% and top-line revenue is growing 20% year over year.
- Team Management: All divisions are staffed with the right people in the right roles, performing their jobs with excellence.
- Operations: Internal systems are improved, updated and ready for significant growth in client flow.
- Business Development: Self-publishing services division is bringing in 20% or more of company revenue, lead gen is diversifying, and marketing efforts are profitable.
- Customer Service: Clients are happy and client issues are minimized; those rare issues that arise are dealt with quickly and effectively with minimal impact on company finances.
- Sales Improvements: Sales conversions are improving measurably over time.

Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations of the business, in line with Founder’s vision.
- Provide leadership and direction to entire organization.
- Take responsibility for financial health and growth of the business, including creation and implementation of a 3-year business development plan to achieve profitability and revenue growth as
outlined in KPIs above.
- Assure that the quality of our services is maintained and improved.
- Oversee and approve hiring of all new team members.
- Optimize business structures for greatest efficiency and sustainability as the company grows.
- Oversee all operations-related vendor relationships including financial, legal, insurance and HR.
- Oversee and resolve client and/or vendor challenges in the rare circumstances where they arise.
- Set up the business for growth to the next level.

Qualities and Qualifications:
- A Resident of Colorado.
- Deep understanding of business management: 5+ years of experience managing a small company or large department at a larger company, or equivalent.
- Understanding of, and passion for, business-building: Eager for the opportunity to grow a $1.5M company to $5M, and the exhibited ability to do so.
- Process and systems oriented: Has experience upleveling company systems to improve efficiency, effectiveness and profitability.
- Exceptional at personnel management: Depth of experience with hiring, internal conflict management, and firing. Ready to step in and assist team members as needed to get the job done.
- Growth-minded: Eager to assess new business opportunities and oversee expansion into new markets.
- Proactive, high-level communicator: Exceptional communication, self-understanding and the willingness to take personal responsibility. Steady, thoughtful, thorough and experienced in the face of
conflict.
- Self-starting and available: Dependable about time and completing tasks/responding to inquiries throughout the day, and to stay connected to all members of the team on a daily basis.
- Excellent written and verbal skills: We are an editorial company and seek a candidate whose written communication reflects an above-average attention to detail (i.e., minimal errors).
- Professional and relational approach: We are a company that values open communication, mutual trust and work-life harmony inside a context of professional responsiveness.
- Up to date home office: Has computer (with camera) and smartphone as well as high-speed wifi. Familiarity with technological systems such as Google Suite, Slack, QuickBooks Online and Insightly (or similar CRM system) is a plus.
