As a Custom Sales Specialist, you’ll provide day-to-day administrative assistance and project management for the Custom Publishing team, including key account support, order tracking and sales meeting preparation. You will also be expected to liaison with Content and Operations tracking custom book projects, printer quotes and executing overseas and domestic orders. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, highly skilled in MS Office and related sales tools, and excels at working independently while managing cross-functional responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Overall support for the Senior Director, Custom Sales
- Support new and existing business development (phone, email, mailings)
- Prepare, gather, and create title data and sales collateral for sales outreach, strategy meetings, business reviews, and quarterly updates.
- Sales administration including new account set up, order processing, account support, creating digital catalogs and tracking custom projects.
- Design and execute PowerPoint template for sales meeting decks; create custom decks for vertical market presentations.
- Execute sales reports, update title information and metadata in various Excel spreadsheets and other internal company systems.
- Coordinate internally with Editorial, Design, Production, Operations and Finance personnel to maximize cross-functional efficiency.


- 2-3 years experience (preferably in book publishing sales, merchandising, or retail a plus)
- Must excel in MS Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint and Excel, as well as proficiency in Google Drive and related systems
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong systems and process orientation
- Meticulous attention to detail and deadlines
- Proactive, energetic, efficient and self-directed, with the capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Team player with a proven ability to excel in a fast-paced and dynamic startup environment
- Strong inner drive to build, improve, and own cross-departmental processes
- Adobe Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, and InDesign experience a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in related field (business, marketing, communications, etc.)
