Requirements:
Responsibilities include:
• Corresponding with authors/illustrators/editors/other agents, developing/editing proposals, reading manuscripts and writing editorial critiques.
• Reading submissions and researching potential clients.
• Maintaining paper and electronic files, maintaining various databases, spreadsheets and calendars, and scheduling appointments. Attention to detail is a must.
• Creating and scheduling daily posts for literary agency’s social media platforms, creating and updating one-sheets and monthly newsletters, and periodically updating agency’s website. A candidate with a strong eye for design is a definite plus.
• Tracking incoming payments, generating invoices, and assisting with accounting and tax preparation.
• Tracking, scanning, and uploading royalty statements and contracts and entering relevant information into database(s).
• Once office is open, receiving and distributing office mail, mailing checks, sending packages, and filing paper contracts.

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree
• At least 6 months of office experience; preferred minimum 1 years' publishing experience.
• A passion for children’s publishing/children’s literature (picture books through YA).
• Excellent communication abilities and interpersonal skills: Assistant will act as liaison between authors/illustrators, editors/publishers, film agents, publicists, agent colleagues, etc.
• Strong spelling and grammatical skills.
• Incredible attention to detail and ability to prioritize work assignments is a requirement.
• Exhibit strong organizational and analytical skills, and be a self-starter. This position requires an assistant who is very independent, trustworthy, and reliable.
• Strong technical skills: Daily use of Microsoft Office software, including Excel, Word and Outlook. Use of database software, Google Sheets, Trello, Wordpress, social media platforms and tools (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Hootsuite), Mailchimp, Canva.
