Quirk Books is seeking a full-time Editor to conceive of, develop, acquire, and edit 6-8 adult fiction and non-fiction books a year. Candidates with a demonstrated interest in high-concept genre fiction and quirky, design-driven, highly topical nonfiction will be considered. This role reports to the Publisher.

• Develop, acquire, and edit a list of 6-8 titles a year, including IP projects, agented submissions, and licensed books.
• Shepherd manuscripts through the production process and oversees all aspects of the publication process.
• Collaborate regularly with designers, marketers/publicists, sales team, and sub rights team.
• Develop and nurture relationships with authors, agents, licensors, and other industry professionals.
• Draft contract requests, title information sheets, catalog copy, jacket copy, and retailer copy.
• Represent Quirk Books at launch, sales conference, and select industry events.

• 4+ years of relevant editorial experience and acquisitions history.
• Strong awareness of the general marketplace and pop culture trends.
• Excellent verbal and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently, stay organized, set priorities, and problem-solve in a time-sensitive environment.
• Strong industry contacts.
• Must be able to work full-time from the Philadelphia office by the end of 2021.
