Experienced, driven, creative and highly organized sales professional is sought to establish, build and grow sales in special markets as the National Sales Manager, Special Markets. This position is responsible for key national specialty retailers (brick & mortar and online), other businesses in the specialty market (including general specialty, gift, travel, sports & outdoors, business, children’s, niche markets and gift), and others as needed. This position will work closely with our Wildsam team and line of product as well as with a curated list of Pelican Publishing (children’s and adult) and Arcadia/The History Press titles (children’s and adult) to target sales opportunities for an exciting and extremely varied array of books.

The National Sales Manager, Special Markets will prospect new business, work with existing account buyers to grow sales and target new trends and opportunities and will collaborate with Custom Publishing at Wildsam and other imprints to help facilitate special publishing projects for accounts. The ideal candidate will have established account contacts, be enthusiastic, persuasive, creative, self-motivated, collaborative, and results-oriented. 8-10 years’ experience in Sales, Publishing, with a focus on Special Sales required. This position will be selling directly, not managing reps.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Growing and maximizing Wildsam, Arcadia Children’s Books, select Pelican and Arcadia/THP titles’ sales at key accounts in primarily the national
specialty retail market
• Uncovering, pursuing, landing new specialty business for our books in the specialty channel.
• Prospecting and opening accounts in national specialty, then servicing them on an ongoing basis
• Work with internal teams on PO management, warehouse, sales tracking and so on
• Provide market intel and insights to internal teams
• Create and execute plans and strategies to increase our business in the specialty channel
• Create presentations, provide samples when needed, provide info on new titles, etc.
• Communicate all pertinent account information and progress to publishers and sales team
• Running and analyzing daily, weekly, monthly, etc. sales reports to manage business and identify opportunities for growth.
• Traveling (in person or virtually) to key account meetings and attending trade shows when applicable.

Please apply if you meet the following qualifications:
• 8-10 years prior publishing sales experience; account contacts and direct selling to specialty retail or accounts experience strongly preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent product knowledge and understanding of publishing functions
• Superb presentation skills
• Highly organized, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
• Strong analytical skills including the ability to create and run reports, analyze data, and communicate key findings/opportunities
• Proactive and able to problem solve and adapt within a rapidly evolving environment
• Must be a self-starter and self-motivated, but with the ability and willingness to work in a team environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
