Quirk Books is seeking a full-time Managing Editorial Assistant to copyedit, proofread, and provide administrative support with a variety of bookmaking tasks. This role reports to the Managing Editor.

• Assist the Managing Editor in shepherding titles through the editorial, design, and production process.
• Perform first-pass copyediting of manuscripts, jacket copy, and other types of copy as needed in accordance with house style.
• Proofread first-pass proofs in accordance with house style.
• Review printer proofs (blues) as needed.
• Assist with bookmaking and office-related administrative tasks as needed.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
• Solutions-oriented, ability to multitask, and attuned to shifting priorities in a time-sensitive environment.
• Cooperative attitude and strong work ethic.
• Ability to receive and synthesize constructive feedback and ask questions.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Fluency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, and Adobe Acrobat. Familiarity with Asana is a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of grammar and The Chicago Manual of Style are a plus.
• Must be able to work from the Philadelphia office.
