Job Summary:
We are seeking a bright, highly organized, math-minded person to work with our Agency as a Royalties and Foreign Rights Assistant. The ideal candidate is someone with publishing experience in royalties, foreign rights, accounting, contracts, or business affairs, or with a business, accounting or finance background who also has an interest in the book industry.

This position will be full-time, and in the office once we are back in person. This person will work will work closely with the Agent responsible for Foreign Sales as well as the entire Agency, to track and manage incoming royalty accounting, process author payments and assist authors in processing foreign tax exemption certification. This job requires expert organization and time management, a keen eye for detail, an analytical mind, and superb communication.

Assist with foreign rights’ sales process and contract review
Liaise with clients regarding tax exemption applications, with IRS to track certification, with co-agents regarding exemptions.
Process and distribute royalty statements
Communicate with publishers’ internal royalty departments
Follow-up and follow-through to resolve errors
Management of internal databases
Keep and organize files and reports

Experience working at a publishing house, literary agency or a related industry in royalties, accounting, contracts, foreign rights or business affairs
Strong attention to detail
Experience managing and analyzing royalty statements or similar documents
Mastery of email, Excel
Meticulous organization, ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast- paced, deadline-oriented environment
Capable of picking up new systems easily including BAITS
Self-motivated team player
Superb organizational, customer service, and interpersonal skills

Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
